More Pictures from St. John

Today I’m sharing some more pictures from our island getaway! I know that I said this before but St. John is my favorite place! It is the perfect place to go sailing, there are so many islands that are close by and all offer unique and different things to do. One activity that we always do when we travel there is to charter a boat. This is always one of our most fun island days. I love doing this  because it allows us to see so many new places, some local favorite hot spots, and just enjoy all the surrounding islands. On this charter, we went to visit the Baths (which are the large granite formations in the pictures below), snorkeled Treasure Island, and enjoyed Peter Island. The kids loved jumping off the boat, and snorkeling in the caves of Treasure Island. They were trying very hard to find a piece of pirate treasure to bring home! 🙂 Well, no luck on the treasure but we still had a blast! Below are some of the pictures from the later part of our trip! Thanks for stopping by!

^This is the view from Peter Island! I’m thinking I could be left stranded here and be totally alright! 😉

This is a peek inside the Baths. The pictures are not great quality because I had to use my water camera because we had to swim in to see them. The waves were crazy and there was a strong current so it was a bit difficult with four littles, and poor Papa had a brush with some fire coral on the swim in and it wasn’t a pretty sight! Once we made it though, the kids loved climbing and exploring all the caves, and rock formations.

This little mermaid had her “Ariel” moment singing from atop this rock! She’s such a little actress!

Ok so here’s some of my trip suggestions….

Eats:  The Sundog Cafe is a must! They have the best tacos ever!  The North Shore Deli is also delicious and worth a stop. They have the best sandwiches, and treats! Order 2 Jumbles, and a Coconut bar and enjoy every bite! There is also a great ice cream shop right around the corner from the deli,  that has the best homemade ice cream and fresh waffle cones. We stopped there daily! If you would like to hire a chef while there, Chef Elvet Carty is your guy! He was amazing and the food was even better! He really brought the 5 star dining experience right into the dining room of our villa. We were able to have an incredible dinner all while watching the US Open in the comfort of our home!

Villa: Here is the link to Casa la Famiglia the villa we use. We have stayed there twice and have had a great experience each time. The Villa has all the comforts of home, and is impeccable. The only complaint I have is that the days seem to go by too fast!

Concierge Services: If you need help planning your vacation Shanna at Blue Sky Concierge is the best! She helped me handle all of our travel needs and made the planning easy!

Jeep Rentals: Renting a jeep on the island is a must! It allows you to see and travel around as you please. You have to book early though because there are only so many on the island. Mr. Pipers Jeeps is who we have used and they do a great job!

Charters: I recommend using this one! The boat was clean and  Captain Patrick was the best! He and his first mate Kahlia are awesome, they were so knowledgeable and were very good with all of the kids. I will definitely be using them again.

Beaches: Our favorites are Maho (if you wanna swim with turtles, this is the place to go), Trunk Bay (has some good snorkeling, and a concession stand with a delicious guava smoothie), Dennis Beach(is a locals spot and you have to hike a bit to get there but its private and worth the trip), Waterlemon Cay is another beach that is great (you have to hike for a little over a mile and then you swim about a half mile to get there but the snorkeling is really good and we saw lots of creatures. However, the swim on the way back was a little work because we were going against the current so be prepared for that)

*My family always travels to the island during the off season. We enjoy this because the island is not that busy, however there are a lot of restaurants, and other businesses that are closed. So you may want to be selective in your travel dates.
